The Culture Department of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia has been working for three years on an intense job by harmonizing and coordinating the main markets of performing arts and music in Catalonia. The Department is aware of its strategic position as a meeting and exchanging point and as the best place to show brand new offers and get to professional contractors as well. These festivals are essential to promote different artistic disciplines because they favor to create both contracts and public.
The group of markets is composed by La Mostra d’Igualada, Trapezi Reus, Fira Tàrrega, Mercat de Música Viva de Vic and Fira Meditarrània de Manresa. In 2015 Sismògraf d’Olot joined to complete the group of strategic markets of performing arts and music of Catalonia.
All of these festivals accomplish their own purpose as promoters of its respective areas: music (MMVV), performing arts and specially street arts (Fira Tàrrega), circus (Trapezi Reus), children and teenage theatre (La Mostra), popular culture and world music (Fira Mediterrània) and dance (Sismògraf). During its celebration Vic, Tàrrega, Reus, Igualada, Manresa and Olot become true culture referents and attract a large public that benefits directly the local economy and commerce. On the other hand, creators, companies, programmers and all the professionals of those art sectors find their place to develop their jobs.
The Culture Department of Catalonia gives a vast support to these 6 strategic festivals always in collaboration with the 6 city councils involved and the respective professional sectors. This collaboration is fundamental to optimize the available resources and increase the market effectiveness.
