Fragility and strength, control and release... Four circus artists seek a balance between polarities in a landscape of blown glass objects. Dance, acrobatics, fakirism and object manipulation merge into a multidisciplinary glass performance.
The dialogue between matter and the human body is the main inspiration for this piece, in which the creator, researcher and circus author Vivian Friedrich proposes a movement composition performed by four circus artists and a fifth element: a material which, in this case, is an element as fragile and beautiful as blown glass.
Drawing on her family tradition of glass, Vivian Friedrich seeks a balance between the old and the new, between fragility and strength. She played with this in a previous project, Kristall Bohème, and now continues to work with balances, exploring contrasts that do not oppose but complement each other. As in the human body, in Sklenka Melta you will find hard and flexible, solid and liquid parts, a sign of the diversity of humanity and its collective character.
The proposal is signed by a circus artist who studied in Hamburg and Barcelona, but also in the Netherlands and France. She has specialized in the static cloud swing creating her own style and language by mixing with other techniques. She is the author of the project I Love My Car and has been the dramaturge and artistic facilitator of the creation Breach by the company Som Noise, selected in the circusnext+ programme. In 2022 she premiered Kristall Bohème [Excavation of a Memory] at the Mercat de les Flors.
DiffractionArt was founded in 2025 as a collaborative group around the creator Vivian Friedrich and understands circus as a movement language, exploring new dramaturgies. The current members are the experimental juggler Agustí Margarit, the circus performer Clara Cortés, the acrobat and juggler Jorge Castro, the circus performer Amaya Goñi, the designer Fredye Díaz, the singer Maider Lasa Santamaría and the producer Mara Maso.
